Last October, 22nd and 23rd, the partners of LOCAL4GREEN Project met in Cyprus. The 1st technical meeting of the project was organized by the Cyprus Energy Agency and all the partners shared the fiscal policies to be designed in each pilot local authority. Some common trends can be identified: the immovable property tax, the fees for use or occupation of public land, the fees for building work permits and the touristic tax are some of the local fiscal revenues to be modified to promote the Renewable Energy Sources. The partners faced some challenges, mainly the legal frame works and the lack of autonomy of the local authorities to set their fiscal policies.

A common methodology to design the green local fiscal policies has been elaborated by LOCAL4GREEN Project
The first step has been taken to design and test the local fiscal policies intended to promote Renewable Energy Sources. A common and participatory methodology has been elaborated and validated by all the partners and all of them are expected to use it in the pilot local authorities. The methodology is structured in four stages: Plan, Do, Control and Improve. There are 20 steps in total, numbered from 0 to 19, to select and design the local fiscal policies according to legal, technical and economic constraints. Such steps encompass citizens participation as well as mainstream social inclusion. Find out the methodology.
